Board Vacancies – Oakdene House CLG
Context for Appointment
Our client, Oakdene House CLG is at an important stage in its development and is actively strengthening the skills and expertise on its Board. To ensure the organisation is well-governed, financially sound, and legally compliant, the Board is recruiting three new voluntary Directors – each bringing a distinct area of expertise: finance, legal, and governance.
- Finance: The Board is seeking a Director with financial experience (accounting, budgeting, financial management, or audit) to support robust financial planning, oversight of budgets, and the organisation’s long-term sustainability.
- Legal: A Director with legal expertise (legal practice, compliance, employment law, or corporate governance) is also sought to provide strategic guidance on the charity’s governing document, statutory obligations, and policy matters requiring a legal perspective.
- Governance: A Director with governance experience will help strengthen the Board’s systems, policies, and practices – ensuring compliance with the Charities Regulator, the Companies Act, the Charities Governance Code, and all relevant SLA and regulatory requirements.
Together, these three roles will meaningfully deepen the Board’s capacity to lead with confidence and accountability. If any of these roles resonate with you – or if you’d simply like to find out more before deciding whether to apply – we’d encourage you to get in touch.
All roles are voluntary, with reasonable expenses reimbursed.
About Oakdene House CLG
Oakdene House CLG provides supported sheltered accommodation in Cork City for older people who find themselves in a homeless situation, as well as for people aged 50 and over experiencing mental health difficulties. Operating across two properties – O’Connell Court (55 spaces) and Oakdene House (13 spaces) – the organisation has deep roots in the Cork community. At the heart of the organisation is a commitment to advocacy, acceptance, and the recognition of every resident as a whole person – not defined by the labels society may have attached to them in their later years.
Oakdene House CLG, the registered company, approved housing body, and charity under which both properties now operate following a merger in January 2022, was originally established in 1985.
