Ardclough GAA

Ardclough GAA in Co. Kildare caters for adults and juveniles playing Gaelic Football, Hurling, Camogie and Ladies Gaelic Football. Their membership and playing numbers have grown substantially in recent years, placing pressure on current facilities. Ardclough required additional funding to install LED floodlights and to improve security. Our Grants Team worked alongside Ardclough GAA to secure a Sports Capital Grant Application.

They required a range of new facilities to meet the increased demand, with longer opening hours during the week for training in a safe well-lit, secure area. The facility will also be used for social 5-a-side soccer and Community Games events, as Ardclough GAA encourages participation in all sports. The facilities are open to all ages, with improved lighting and security to encourage greater participation in sport for all. Ardclough GAA were delighted to receive 100% of their grant, a total of €150,000. This grant will provide a fantastic support to the development of their facilities.

Athenry Golf Club is at the heart of this rural community by providing facilities for local schools; community groups, and members. There has been an increased demand for facilities, new course area and greens. The club contains a strong ladies team and this investment in their facilities will encourage new members.

The maintenance and upgrade of playing areas are vital to ensure that the facilities encourage greater participation by the community organisations and local schools, especially encouraging the youth who have been successful in All Ireland titles. We assisted Athenry Golf Club with their Sports Capital Grant Application. They received 100% of the grant amount sought, a total of €150,000. Naas CBS

Naas CBS is one of the largest secondary schools in County Kildare with just over 1,000 pupils drawn from a wide urban, rural and socially diverse catchment area. The school currently has a small natural grass sports field which is inadequate for the high level of usage, creating a lack of playing pitches for their students.

Naas CBS has connections with Special Olympics Ireland and the new facility will be made available on a nominal charge basis. They also require installation of flood lighting to increase participation rates by 50% and to meet the needs of their GAA partnership. The club looks forward to providing a pitch for multi-use purposes and were delighted to receive €150,000 in their sports capital application, with the assistance of Patricia Keenan, Our Head of Grants Advisory Practice.
