2into3 CEO Featured in The Journal on NGO Funding and Transparency
We are delighted that our CEO, Dennis O’Connor, was featured in The Journal’s recent article exploring NGO funding and transparency in Ireland.
The piece highlights how Ireland stands out in Europe, with public funding for NGOs increasing by an average of 7% year-on-year between 2019 and 2022, even as other countries reduce support for civil society. However, the article also points to the transparency gap that has existed since 2021, when central government funding data was no longer published.
In his comments, Dennis noted that this gap makes it harder to fully understand how funding is allocated across the sector and called for more detailed reporting from non-profits.
The article also spotlighted the role of Giving Ireland, led by 2into3 in partnership with TU Dublin, which provides independent, reliable analysis to help fill this transparency gap. By tracking and analysing funding flows, Giving Ireland equips non-profits, funders, and policymakers with data that supports stronger planning, accountability, and trust in the sector.
