About The Role
Volunteer Ireland is seeking a new Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation at a pivotal moment for volunteering in Ireland. The government’s new National Volunteering Strategy is about to commence, and Volunteer Ireland’s current strategic plan, An Ireland Where Volunteering Thrives, enters its final year in 2027. The incoming CEO will help shape the national agenda and set the direction for Volunteer Ireland’s next chapter.
Building on strong foundations including robust governance and a transparent, empowering team culture, the CEO will have real scope to strengthen Volunteer Ireland’s position as a thought leader on volunteering. They will grow and diversify income, build trusted relationships across the national network of 29 Volunteer Centres, act as the leading public voice for volunteering in the media and represent Volunteering Ireland with Government Ministers and senior civil servants.
This role suits a confident relationship-builder and credible advocate who combines vision and ambition with warmth and inclusivity. The post holder will be as comfortable rolling up their sleeves with a compact, high-performing team as setting strategic direction. A genuine commitment to the value of volunteering in Irish society is essential.
