Co-operative Housing Ireland (CHI) was founded in 1973 and is the national organisation representing, promoting, and developing co-operative housing in Ireland. Since their foundation they have provided over 5,700 homes through homeownership, shared ownership, and social rented co-operatives. With their membership of democratically controlled local co-operatives, they continue to manage over 3,500 homes across Ireland as well as providing a network of childcare services in their communities.
About the Role
Co-operative Housing Ireland are currently seeking a Head of Housing Services and Community Engagement who will lead, direct, and manage the tenancy services function within CHI.
This is a position within the CHI Executive Management Team (EMT) that will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
The Head of Housing Services and Community Engagement will take responsibility for developing and leading the function in the management of tenancy services, community engagement and related services to CHI members, as well as the efficient collection of rental income. They will also support the implementation of CHI’s Organisational Strategy, which outlines CHI’s mission to lead the development of social, economic and environmental sustainability in Ireland through co-operative effort and the provision of co-operative housing. Using the co-operative principles, the post holder will also be responsible for championing CHI’s model of inclusion and community engagement in its neighbourhoods.
In order to be successful in this role, the post holder will need to have extensive experience of property and tenancy management, ideally within the social housing sector. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing a large portfolio and a large number of tenants (c. 5,000 units) and will have both a strategic outlook and an eye for continuous process improvement. They will have strong empathy surrounding the needs of social housing tenants (CHI members) and be confident in managing a busy team and also in engaging with the community. They will be able to integrate well with the CHI team and use their own passion and enthusiasm for the role to lead a high functioning team which supports and facilitates the achievement of CHI’s mission.
