Sightsavers is a leading international NGO working to prevent avoidable blindness, restore sight and advocate for social inclusion and equal rights for people with disabilities. Operating programmes in more than 30 low and middle income countries, Sightsavers tackles the main causes of avoidable blindness including cataract and a group of neglected tropical diseases such as river blindness and trachoma.

Sightsavers Ireland was established in 2003 and is an independent affiliate that works to actively support the work of the global Sightsavers organisation. Sightsavers do this through fundraising with the general public, businesses, trusts and foundations, holding institutional grants and advocacy and public engagement on issues related to sight loss and disability rights.

 

About the Role

Sightsavers Ireland are looking to appoint a new Governance and Administration Executive to support the CEO in upholding their responsibilities to the Board of Directors and to support the Company Secretary in upholding their compliance and legal obligations. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all legal and statutory compliance obligations, providing executive support to the Senior Management Team, and for all aspects of office administration.

To succeed in this role, the post holder must have extensive previous business administration, compliance, and risk management experience, and a proven ability to work on their own initiative, while working as part of a team. They will have knowledge and understanding of the legislative and statutory environment, and experience of building and developing strong working relationships with the Board, management team and key providers.

The postholder will have a demonstrated capability to plan and coordinate activities to achieve strategic outcomes, will be solution-focused, and have excellent communication and IT skills. Additionally, the post-holder will be self-motivated and passionate about the charity’s purpose.
