About NCBI

The National Council for the Blind of Ireland (NCBI) is the premier agency providing support and services to people who are blind or vision impaired. We assist and advise public and private organisations to ensure that their services are accessible to people who experience significant sight loss. NCBI also runs campaigns on awareness and eye health.
NCBI provides a wide range of community based services throughout Ireland to over 13,000 service users. With over 180 staff, NCBI works in close partnership with the HSE and other service providers. NCBI’s mission is to enable people who are blind or vision impaired overcome the barriers that impede their independence and participation in society.

Position – Head of Fundraising

The purpose of this role is to achieve Organisation income goals through the effective strategic leadership of all NCBI fundraising activities and managing the maximisation of net revenue.

Permanent, subject to probation period.

Location
Whitworth Rd, Drumcondra, Dublin 9.

Reports
Events Coordinator, 2 Fundraising Executives and Part Time Fundraising Executive.

Objectives

Lead, drive and implement NCBI fundraising strategy in the achievement of annual income and other targets.

Review and develop the fundraising strategy and operational plans including budgets, financial targets and performance goals and measures.

Manage the fundraising team to ensure optimum performance and development of talent.

Key Duties


  • Provision of strategic leadership to staff and volunteers in the development and execution of fundraising campaigns, plans and activities.
  • Leadership of the marketing and communications strategy for fundraising campaigns and activities.
  • Identify, build and maintain relationships with major/key donors and stakeholders.
  • Develop plans around donor stewardship to sustain donor loyalty and strengthen and grow one-to-one giving opportunities.
  • Continuously research best practices and improve donor programs/approaches and fundraising policies, processes and procedures, documenting all key activities.
  • Identify and assess new revenue opportunities and design strategies/approaches to capitalize upon them.
  • Develop sponsorship opportunities for corporate partnerships.
  • Implement national policies and procedures relating to fund development and participate in the review and updating of these policies as required.
  • Engage volunteer leaders and community members in fundraising and community relationship building.
  • To provide timely, relevant information and reports to the CEO as appropriate.
  • To ensure the Fundraising Department keeps accurate and accessible records in accordance with relevant legislation e.g. Data Protection Legislationand Charities Act.
  • To take personal responsibility for agreed areas of fundraising.
  • To undertake any other duties from time to time as may be reasonably expected.




Key Performance Indicators

  • Achievement of agreed annual income targets within agreed expenditure budgets.
  • Development of Strategy.
  • Supervision and support of Fundraising team.
  • Quality of working relationships with internal and external contacts.



Skills, knowledge and experience required

  • Minimum five years experience in a senior fundraising, sales or business development role.
  • A proven track record in securing significant income, and in managing, cultivating and soliciting funders.
  • Solid leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate staff to achieve goals.
  • Demonstrated research, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experience of the voluntary sector.
  • Strong technical skills to ensure the effective use and maintenance of a donor or CRM database.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, and the capability to work effectively with volunteers, staff and stakeholders.
  • Professional attitude, self-starter, and flexible.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and public speaking.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and establish priorities.
  • Demonstrate and promote a personal understanding of and appreciation for the mission, vision and values of NCBI.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
